Factory Sealing Devices

Many devices are water-resistant, with adhesive seals that can prevent water, moisture, and lint from entering. When repairing a device, it's important that this seal is replaced properly. Some may think to reuse the old seal or just slap a new one on top, but this method does not create a factory seal.

This is my process for sealing devices. It closely resembles how the device was first sealed in the factory:

  1. The old seal is cleaned fully before applying a new seal. All adhesive and dust are removed.
  2. Then, primer (adhesive grabber) is added to the frame.
  3. After the device is closed, the frame is heated to 50 degrees Celsius.
  4. The device is then put on a pressurized clamp.

These steps are done to ensure a continuous and strong grab with the new seal.
