Factory Sealing Devices
Many devices are water-resistant, with adhesive seals that can prevent water, moisture, and lint from entering. When repairing a device, it's important that this seal is replaced properly. Some may think to reuse the old seal or just slap a new one on top, but this method does not create a factory seal.
This is my process for sealing devices. It closely resembles how the device was first sealed in the factory:
- The old seal is cleaned fully before applying a new seal. All adhesive and dust are removed.
- Then, primer (adhesive grabber) is added to the frame.
- After the device is closed, the frame is heated to 50 degrees Celsius.
- The device is then put on a pressurized clamp.
These steps are done to ensure a continuous and strong grab with the new seal.
